Last Tuesday evening saw an eventful Toolstation Western League clash for the First XI against Clevedon Town.
The game saw Clevedon enjoy the majority of possession, but the Cribbs still fashioned some decent chances on the break. In the first half, Steve Murray worked his way into the six yard box, but his cross cum shot didn't manage to creep in. Prior to Clevedon's first goal, Lewis Waldy was very unlucky not to score as he advanced from left wing back and his shot hit the inside of the post, rebounding back into play.
Some sloppy defending saw Clevedon take a two nil lead with 15 minutes or so remaining and after already losing influential midfielders, Jake Hodgson and Jack McKenna to injury, even a point seemed unlikely. However, a rare goal for Dan Dyke saw Cribbs back in the match in the dying minutes of normal time and then our current top goalscorer, Matt Spiller, rifled home an effort from the edge of the box in injury time. There was even time for one final effort, but we couldn't quite direct the ball home at the far post after good work from Ross McErlain and Waldy fashioned one last chance.

Saturday saw us make our longest away league trip of the season as we visited title contenders, Plymouth Parkway at their Bolitho Park home.
The first half went very much to plan, as we sat in and frustrated the opposition and looked to hit them on the break. The scoreline was even at half time and there was still all to play for in the second half. Unfortunately, the efforts of Tuesday started to tell on the lads legs and in the end we slipped to a 5-0 defeat, losing goalkeeper, David Hill to injury on around the hour mark when we were two goals down.

The other Saturday sides enjoyed the full range of results. A defeat for the Reserves, a win for the 3rds and a draw for the 4ths.
The Reserves were playing away at local rivals Hallen and their long unbeaten run came to an end in a 4-2 reverse. The goals both came from a regular source, Tom Headford.
The 3rd XI enjoyed a victory in their first match at Bristol Premier Combination level, defeating Greyfriars Athletic by the same scoreline, 4-2. Our goalscorers were Sammy Higgins, evergreen Andy Capon, David Duru and an own goal.
Louis Crawley's 4th XI travelled to Frys Club for their first game of the season and came away with a point. The goals came from Jordan Jones and Lewis Alderman.
Sunday saw wins for the Under 18 and Veteran sides. The former defeated Bradley Stoke Youth 6-1 with goals from Buster Reed (2), James Crossley John, Jacob Wright. Jojo Blackman and Finn Capes. The Vets played in their league cup and were victorious by 5-3 with the goals coming from Thorpe (2), Coates (2) and King.
Tuesday night sees another long trip for the First XI as they travel to Chichester City for a historic game in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. This is the first time that we have reached this round and reflects the progress that Rich Luffman hopes that we can make in future.
Chichester will be very tough opponents. They defeated Basingstoke Town on penalties in the last round, fighting back from 2 goals down with only 10 men. Last year, they reached the Second Round proper and lost in a televised match to EFL side Tranmere Rovers. This clearly illustrates the task ahead, but given our early season form, anything is possible.
